60 Seconds Valuation of any stock, for that matter any business.

Have you ever wondered that you don't have the holy grail of valuation and you wish you did. Well, I can't answer that question. However, if you don't have Yahoo! finance and Google Finance and all you have is an annual report and if that report did not list the current market price of the stock, how would you know how much it is trading for? Better yet, what is it's value.

Book Summary of 'Outliers' recommended by Charlie Munger

This is a very well written book that tried to explain the classic confusion among the society "What makes people successful?". Is it really the DNA or Luck or a combination of factors that we never really had the time to analyze.

Gold vs USD , the conventional economic theory is out the window

Gold and USD used to trade inverse with a negative correlation factor. But Since last year, it has been reversed and they now trade together. As Charlie Munger said "Once decade's wisdom is stale for the next one", I guess we are in for a big change in economic theory and the models built on conventional wisdom.

PFIZER and WYETH arbitrage

So, now it is official. They are getting married. PFE is paying 50$ in cash and stock to Wyeth. Now Wyeth is trading at 43.6. Is there a sure bet here for the other 6.4$ in 3 months. 15% in 3 months annualized at 60% return. Now the question is would Wyeth reach 50$ before we sell?

When you look at a Mutual Fund or a Money manager's returns, did you ever wonder how to come up with the actual return on that portfolio for a given time series? Ok, here is the answer for you. To Calculate the growth rate of your portfolio you just calculate the geometric mean of all the annual returns. For e.g.
